ASV was founded in 1998 through the collaboration of Sam Koo, an experienced entrepreneur in banking software technology, and Maan Ammar, a professor and innovator of information computing systems.
Based on Dr. Ammar's algorithm for signature verification, ASV earned its first U.S. Patent in 1998, and the next year, the company introduced its check fraud prevention software, eBank™DISCOVERY, to the banking market. ASV successfully installed its first system in 2000 at City National Bank in Los Angeles, who anticipated over $100,000 annually in savings, as a result. Under Mr. Koo's leadership, the company flourished, signing on seventy additional banks in the first several years.
Since then, ASV has sought tirelessly to realize its mission – the total elimination of check fraud – through the continual improvement of eBank™DISCOVERY.
In addition to its products, ASV seeks to counter check fraud at a cultural level, by giving educational presentations and sponsoring risk and fraud management conferences.
